Work life / Home life
photo

August 19, 2007

So, today is my 15 year anniversary at my current job, and I could say that I don't think I could hate it more.  My job, that is.   But I have a feeling that I probably will be able to say I actually hate it more in the next few days.

I started working on my moose a few months ago, but haven't had any "home time" to continue, lately.

Oh well, there's always retirement to look forward to.  In about twenty years.

Living in Alaska
photo

August 7, 2007

There are very few down sides to living in rural Alaska, but there are many, many up sides.

One down side to these little guys is that they seem to really like kale and Mom likes to tip toe through the tulips.  Needless to say the garden is kind of a mess. But aren't they CUTE?

COUNTDOWN TO GREEN
photo

May 8, 2007

Well, the snow is off the ground, temperatures have reached as high as 52, and the trees have buds.

I am ready to plant, but the ground isn't warm enough yet.  I am ready to mow my lawn, but it is still that ugly tan color.

When things start to green up it will happen quickly, but it's not happening quickly enough for me.

"Oh Lord, Give me patience.  And give it to me NOW."

Chocolate

Here is a sign that I made for a display at work. I think it says it all.

I feel a batch of Cocoa Drop cookies is in my very near future.

Denali
photo

March 2, 2007

We had some family visiting recently, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. They are both fun to be around, a real "kick in the pants". We drove to Talkeena to get a good look at Mt McKinley, (said to be the highest peak in North America). We also call in Denali. It was a nice drive. I'd never been to Talkeetna before (it's actually pretty close, I'd just never gotten around to it). I want to go back in the summer and see some of the little shops, not much is really open in the winter months.

If you're looking for some spectacular views, Alaska is definately the place to be.
